Pharmacological effect Forlax

The osmotic laxative Forlax has a large molecular mass of macrogol 4000, caused by the presence of long linear polymers that can hold water molecules through hydrogen bonds. This process results in an increase in the volume of intestinal contents after the drug is taken by mouth. Unabsorbed fluid in the lumen maintains the laxative effect of the solution.
Forlax laxative effects appear 24 to 48 hours after ingestion.
