Pharmacological effect Phenotropil

Pharmacotherapeutic group: the nootropic agent PHENOTROPYL, a nootropic drug, has a pronounced antiamnestic effect, has a direct active and energetic effect on the integrative activity of the brain, promotes memory consolidation, improves attention concentration and mental activity, facilitates learning, increases the rate of information transfer between cerebral hemispheres, increases the resistance of brain tissue to hypoxia and toxic effects, has anticonvulsant and anxiolytic activity, regulates the processes of activation and inhibition of the CNS, and improves mood.

PHENOTROPIL has a positive effect on the metabolic processes and blood circulation of the brain, stimulates oxidation-reduction processes, increases the energy potential of the body through the utilization of glucose, improves regional blood flow in ischemic areas of the brain. It increases norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin levels in the brain, does not affect GABA levels, does not bind to GABA or GABAB receptors, does not have a noticeable effect on spontaneous brain bioelectric activity.
PHENOTROPIL has no effect on breathing and the cardiovascular system, has an insignificant diuretic effect, has anorexigenic activity in course of administration.
The stimulating effect of PHENOTROPYL is manifested in its ability to have a moderate effect on motor reactions, to increase physical efficiency, to a pronounced antagonism to the cataleptic effect of antipsychotics, and also in the weakening of the hypnotic effect of ethanol and hexenal.
The psychostimulatory effects of PHENOTROPYL prevail in the ideal sphere.
The drug has a moderate psychostimulatory effect with anxiolytic activity, improves mood, and has some analgesic effect, raising the threshold for pain sensitivity.
Adaptogenic effects of PHENOTROPYL are manifested in increased resistance to stress in the conditions of extreme mental and physical exertion, fatigue, hypokinesia and immobilization, at low temperatures.
With PHENOTROPYL, improvement of vision is observed, which manifests itself in an increase in sharpness, brightness and fields of vision.
PHENOTROPIL improves blood supply to the lower extremities.
PHENOTROPIL stimulates antibody production in response to antigen administration, indicating immunostimulating properties, but it does not promote immediate-type hypersensitivity or alter the allergic skin inflammatory response to foreign protein.
Therapeutic PHENOTROPIL does not induce drug dependence, tolerance, or withdrawal syndrome.
PHENOTROPIL is effective at a single dose, which is important when using the drug in extreme conditions.
PHENOTROPIL is not teratogenic, mutagenic, carcinogenic or embryotoxic. Toxicity is low, with a lethal dose of 800 mg/kg in an acute trial.
