Pharmacological effect Salbutamol AV
A beta2-agonist of selective action is a bronchodilator. At therapeutic doses, it stimulates the beta2 adrenergic receptors of the bronchi, blood vessels, and myometrium and has a marked bronchodilating effect. It has no effect on beta1-adrenergic heart receptors and may prevent allergic bronchospasm. It may affect the number of beta-adrenergic receptors, including lymphocytes. It also has metabolic effects, such as decreased blood potassium levels, effects on glycogenolysis and insulin production, hyperglycemic (especially in patients with asthma) and lipolitical effects, and increased risk of acidosis. At recommended therapeutic doses, the drug does not have negative effects on the cardiovascular system and does not cause an increase in blood pressure. It has positive chronotropic and inotropic effects, and coronary artery dilation. With inhaled forms of the drug, its effect manifests in 5 minutes, reaching a maximum in 30-90 minutes (75% of the maximum effect occurs within 5 minutes). Its duration of action is 3-6 hours.
